Anji Play!

This week in the Green Room we prepared for Mother's Day by creating our surprise gift for Mom.  We painted pot holders so that she can use them while baking delicious cookies and cupcakes.  Nosson pointed out that his mom makes the best cupcakes!  We were so excited to present them at the Muffins with Mom event at school.  We also did a lot of sensory play this week.  We mixed water and corn starch and played with the goo that it created.  It was very cool to see how on the pan it feels solid but when you pick it up it turns into liquid.  The Green Room loves science!

Outside this week the Rainbow Room created an amazing zipline.  We had so much fun playing with it and trying to slide down it.  We sent pipes down the zipline and balanced on tires while holding on.  This outdoor play was so wonderful for our gross motor development including balancing and we worked together building teamwork skills!
Ben and Nosson balance on the tires while holding onto the zipline.

Everest circles a tire and didn't fall once!

The Green Room sitting around the log circle while looking at the zipline and thinking about how to use it.

Shimmy was one of our first friends to get to work!

Shira balanced on one foot while helping the pipe move down the line.

Our friends began using teamwork and working with the Blue Room to help them play too.

Vella shows Alice and Scarlett how to balance.

We have been working a lot on our Hebrew vocabulary this week as well.  Our friends sing a song every morning that allows us to practice vocabulary words and use them in a sentence.  You can ask your children what the following words mean in Hebrew:
1. Table (Shulchan)
2. Chair (Kisay)
3. Book (Sefer)
4. Water (Mayim)
5. Head (Rosh)
6. Eyes (Einayim)
7. Ears (Osnayim)
8. Nose (Af)
9. Mouth (Peh)
10. Hands (Yadayim)
11. Legs (Raglayim)

Shabbat Shalom and have a great weekend!

Science Center

We had a very exciting week in the Green Room continuing our learning about the Solar System.  We began an amazing project, painting all of the planets and assembling them together as a replica of our Solar System.  The painting enforced fine motor skills and practice with colors.  We discussed which colors mix together to create other colors and which colors mix to make brown.
Ben is painting the sun orange.

Shimmy and Everest paint the sun with red and yellow.

Nechama paints Mars red.

Nosson paints the sun a combination of orange and yellow.

Vella paints Mercury grey.

At the Arizona Science Center we had the opportunity to experience a Solar System show in the planetarium.  Our friends knew all the of the answers to the questions that the presenter asked.  We were so proud!  When we asked our friends what their favorite part was these were their answers:
Nosson: "going in Morah D's car"
Everest: "the stomach"
Tamar: "farts"
Vella: "when I was pooped out"
Shira: "the fart slide and the show"
Nechama: "the stomach"
Shimmy: "Saturn"
Ben: "George and to see the hot stuff...the moon...I think that was hot and the other side is cold
Our whole classes poses before going into the water room.

Nechama listens about electricity.

Shira and Nechama watch the balls go through a water obstacle course.

Shira lifts herself with a pulley.

Tamar listens about electricity.

Tamar, Nosson, and Shimmy race wheels.

All of our friends enjoyed looking through the telescope and seeing their eye on the big screen.

Thank you parents for entrusting us with your children at the science center.  It was such a rewarding experience for everyone!

Shabbat Shalom,
